Overhyped digital topics often underwhelm when the time comes to act, with a wide range on offer and attention drawn every which way. And this often means losing the big picture: the proper structural context, specialist areas, customers and employees.

IT projects also involve reorganizing. Unfortunately, few of the consultants, IT providers and companies involved acknowledge and respond to this reality. Romanticizing the digitization that will shape our future is dangerous.

There’s no such thing as a one-size-fits-all blueprint or template when you learn how to transform, manage and behave. In our eyes, getting the mindset right and upskilling is an ongoing part of how an organization develops and context-sensitive, rather than a one-off.

Changing and transforming are contingent on having the time, need and leverage prerequisites in place, the right benchmarks and people coming on board. Otherwise, they just become an exercise in navel gazing - art for art’s sake. You can’t pre-program people, how they behave and their culture.
